At the end of Primary
7 (Key Stage 2) when children are
transferring to second level education,
our school will follow the arrangements
as laid down by the Southern Education
and Library Board. Booklets and
leaflets are sent out to parents
at various times during the year.
Parents will also be given the opportunity
to meet the Principal for discussion
in the second term.
Parents and children will have opportunities
to visit local. Secondary schools
Open Nights. Children will also
get the opportunity to attend familiarisation
days at their new schools in the
summer term.
At the moment those children who
wish to transfer to a Grammar School
need to sit the Transfer Examinations
in the autumn term. Whilst all children
are eligible to sit the tests parents
have to decide whether they wish
their child to do so. Those children
who do will receive familiarisation
with the transfer tests and procedure.
Parents wishing to transfer
children to other schools before
the age of 11 years should consult
the Principal at the earliest
opportunity so that relevant
information can be provided.
