We regret that
the school alone will not be able
to fund all educational visits.
We rely on voluntary contributions
from parents for such curriculum-based
activities and, as in the past,
the school aims to keep such charges
as low as possible. Unfortunately
these beneficial activities (e.g.
swimming) would have to be curtailed
without the voluntary support of
parents.
The Education
Reform Act 1989 sets out the law
on charging for educational activities:
- Maintain the right to free
education for all pupils
- Require parents to pay charges
for board and lodging for their
children on residential trips
taking account if any relevant
remission arrangement
- That schools have the discretion
to charge for optional activities
provided wholly or mainly out
of the school hours
- That schools have the right
to invite voluntary contributions
for the benefit of the school,
or in support of any activity
organised by the school, whether
during or outside school hours
