  ADMISSION CRITERIA
 


ADMISSION

If the school’s admission and enrolment numbers have not been reached the school will admit all children of the appropriate age whose parents wish them to attend the school.

These children are:

I.     Firstly those of compulsory school age
       (children who reach their fourth birthday on or before 1 July 2008) ; then

II.   Those who reach their fourth birthday between 2 July and 1 September 2008
       (both dates inclusive); - to be admitted on 1 September 2008 ; then

III.  Those who reach their fourth birthday during the course of the school year –
       to be admitted following their fourth birthday.

Children in categories II and III will only be selected for admission if places are not filled by children in earlier categories. Children under compulsory school age will only be admitted if the present level of resources and teaching staff are available for the 2008/2009 school year.


Admission Criteria

The Board of Governors will apply the following criteria to identify which children should be admitted either at initial admission to education or on transfer from another school. In selecting children for admission children resident in N Ireland at the time of their proposed admission to the school will be selected for the school before any child not so resident.

  1. Priority will be given at all times to pupils regarded by the Board of Governors, on the basis of supporting evidence by parents and/or statutory agencies, as having special circumstances (medical, social , security factors)
     

  2. Children of compulsory school age who normally reside in the parish of Lower Mourne
     

  3. Children of compulsory school age from other areas.
     

  4. Children aged 4 who have not attained the lower limit of compulsory school age from the parish of Lower Mourne (Reception year)
     

  5. Children aged 4 who have not attained lower limit of compulsory school age from other areas


Primary 2- Primary 7 Intake 

Criteria as above


Additional Criterion

In the event of over subscription within any one of the above criteria, preference will be given on the basis of the proximity of the child’s home to the school as measured by the nearest walking distance by road.

Application forms for enrolment may be obtained from the school.


Enrolment

Before your child commences school there will be a meeting between parents of Primary One children and the class teacher.

Please use this occasion to bring any medical condition affecting your child to the class teacher and also to communicate any concerns you may have.
