Dear Parents
As we continue in
the season of Lent a number of our
children are preparing for upcoming
events. We wish the P3 children well
as they finalise their preparations
for their First Penance which takes
place this week.
P7 and their
parents have a number of important
meetings and services related to
Confirmation in the upcoming weeks.

Many thanks to the efforts of some
of our recent past pupils who
helped our ECO Group by preparing
and laying stones on the waste
ground at our front entrance. Thank
you to James, Jack, Mark, Niall,
Paddy, Martin, Gerard and Conor .
ECO SCHOOLS:
The school has been awarded the
Bronze Award for Eco Schools. Mayor
Michael Cole is visiting the school
this week to present the Eco Group
with the certificate.
The Silver Award
is the next target and they are well
on the way to achieving this.
CLUBS:
After
school clubs have started and there
have been good turn outs. If your
child is in Year 4 or above please
encourage them to attend the
Football and Netball sessions on
Monday’s. Music also takes place on
Wednesday’s.

WORLD BOOK
DAY:
This event takes place on Monday 3rd
March. Children can come to school
dressed as their favourite character
from books, stories or
nursery rhymes.
Credit Union
Quiz:
Congratulations to Bernard, Sinead,
Sarah and Amy who won the recent
Credit Union quiz. They picked up
trophies and £20 prize money each.We
wish them well in the next round
which takes place on Friday night in
the Armagh City Hotel.
Team B also did very well in the
other section of the quiz.
Cumann Na Bunscoil Quiz:Our
quiz team just failed to qualify for
the Ulster Final in the GAA Quiz.
They missed out by four points. Well
done to Sarah, Conor, Ciaran and
Ellen

BOOK
FAIR:
Thank
you for your support for the recent
Book fair . £380 worth of books
were bought which means that the
school will gain a lot more books in
the classrooms for our children.
Feis:
Please contact Miss Walsh
if you would like your child to
participate in the Feis which takes
place in early March. There are
competitions for every age group.
Cross Community Residential
P6/7 SHARE : A reminder that
payments for SHARE can be made
throughout the term.
P4/5 Cultra Residential: is a one
night residential at the Ulster Folk
museum in Cultra. It costs £15 and
takes
place
on 10th/11th
april.

Fundraising Catalogue:
The recent edition of the “Yellow
Moon “ catalogue is enclosed. It
contains lots of interesting items
which you may find useful for your
child. When ordering please quote
the source code SST3142 (found on
back of catalogue) as the school
receives cash back when you order
items. Items can be ordered over the
internet, via the phone or post

Cash for
Clobber:
Please send in
bin bags full of unwanted clothes,
curtains and bed linen. We receive
£1 per bag. The bags will be
collected during March. So now is
the time for a Spring Clean. Thank
you.
Tag Rugby: The older
children recently enjoyed taster
sessions of this sport and played
very well in games against Newcastle
PS and All Saints winning three and
drawing one of the four games that
they played.

Lenten Charities:We
are continuing to collect for
Trocaire. Our annual Easter egg
raffle in support of Trocaire. will
take place on Thursday 13th
March. Tickets are 20p each and are
on sale in school each day. Any
donations of chocolate eggs/ cuddly
toys will be gratefully received.
Friday 16th March will be
a
Green clothes Day.
Children can donate £1 for our
