Dear Parents
Congratulations
to the P3 children who recently made
their First Confession in the local
church. Thank you to Miss Walsh and
their parents for their help in the
preparation of the children.
Thank you to
everyone who helped with the
fundraising during the season of
Lent. A special thank you to
everyone who donated Easter eggs and
gave money to buy tickets for the
raffle.
Best wishes to P7
who are now making their final
preparations for Confirmation.
As always school
is busy so please take a note of the
events that are happening in the
near future. Thank You.
IMPORTANT DATES
INTO Sevens Football, Hurling and
Camogie Tournaments shall take place
in the upcoming weeks (Dates TBA)
Sat 26h April Celebration
of First Holy Communion in St.
Joseph’s at 11am.
Primary 3
: With the school year now entering
into the final term a reminder that
children in P3 should now stay in
school until 2.45pm. They may travel
home on the SELB Bus.
QUIZ:
We hope to have another quiz night
in the near future. Details to
follow.

WORLD BOOK
DAY:
Thank you to everyone who
participated in this event.
There
are some pictures of the children
and their costumes along the main
corridor.

award in the recent poster
competition organised by the local
branch of the WI.

CLUBS:
After
school football club has been moved
from Monday to Tuesda.y afternoons
(2.45 – 3.30pm) If your child is in
Year 4 or above please encourage
them to attend the clubs.

Quiz:
Congratulations to Bernard, Sinead,
Sarah and Amy who performed very
well at the Ulster section of the
above quiz. Best wishes to Killowen
who qualified for the All Irelands
from this event.
House
Competition:
Congratulations to Donard who have
won finally won the termly House
Competition after a gap of several
years. They shall go to Coco’s on
Tuesday morning – please bring
tracksuit/t shirt to school to
change into.
Balloon Race:
We shall be having another Balloon
Race during early June in order to
raised funds for the
school
ECO SCHOOLS:
Mayor Cole visited the school
recently and awarded the school with
the Bronze Eco Award. He also
distributed badges to the Eco Group.
The group shall be sending home a
newsletter describing what they have
been dong over the past few months.
SPORT REPORTS
Congratulations to the boys and
girls who competed in the Indoor
Hurling and Camogie tournaments.
Whilst we didn’t qualify for the
county finals there were good
performances by both teams with
several victories noted for both
teams.
Tag Rugby: The older children
recently enjoyed the tournament held
at Newcastle Rugby Club. The school
joined with Moneydarrgh PS and had a
very successful morning beating
schools from Downpatrick ,
Ballynahinch and Newcastle and in
fact just missed out on qualifying
for the Ulster section on number of
tries scored.
Cash for
Clobber: The bags have still not
been collected so anyone wishing to
leave a bin bag containg
clothes/materials may still do so.
P4/5 Cultra
Residential;
This takes place
next Thursday and Friday. A detailed
letter and medical form shall be
sent out this week.
ECO GROUP ARE
LOOKING FOR:
Large plant pots for planting seeds
and plants for all the classes in
the upcoming weeks.
A request of 20p
per child per week to help buy bird
food.
P7 Photos
A
photographer is coming to school on
Friday morning to take special
photographs of P7. The children are
to come to school wearing their
uniform and also bring a change of
clothes (casual). All details are in
the relevant literature which has
been sent home. Even if you decide
not to avail of the package please
ensure that your child has their
photographs taken. I have seen
samples of the finished product and
it looks very professional and a
lovely keepsake of their final year
in primary school.
House

Videoconference:
P6/7 performed an entertaining
version of “This is Your Life” with
St Patrick as the subject for our
American friends before Easter.
