FEBRUARY 2007 NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents

We would like to thank everyone for the great attendance at the parent teacher consultations last week. We hope that you found the meetings useful and informative.

 Lent begins this month. We shall be encouraging the children to prepare for Easter by helping others, collecting money for the less well off through Trocaire and focus on prayer their lives.

IMPORTANT DATES            

Mid Term Holidays   Friday 16th February until Wednesday 21st February (inclusive)

Staff Development Days (Children not to attend school) Wednesday 21st February and Friday 2nd March 

Thursday 1st March World Book Day (Fancy Dress Day)

 

Book Fair:  This takes place next week. It will be open from 2pm until 3pm each day. Children can also buy books during school time. Each child should have a brochure describing what books are on offer.The school receives a percentage of the books sold. Thank you for your anticipated support

Credit Union Quiz: Good luck to the P6 and P7 children who are participating in the competition on Monday night @ 7pm in St Colman’s PS, Kilkeel.

 

Good luck to Conor Ellen Sarah and Ciaran in the Cumann Na Bunscoil Quiz Final

CLUBS:  After school clubs will begin the first week after mid term break.  

Newcastle Language Competition- This event takes place next week. Parents are responsible for bringing their children to the venue.

Cross Community Activities:  The younger classes have all recently enjoyed drama workshops with the Armagh Rhymers. P6/7 shall have  an opportunity next week to work with this very talented group.

 

 Feis: Please contact Miss Walsh if you would like your child to participate in the Feis which takes place in early March. There are competitions for every age group.

Cash for Clobber: We shall soon be  repeating the recycling venture that we participated in last year. Please send in bin bags full of unwanted clothes, curtains and bed linen. We receive £1 per bag. The bags will be collected at the end of February. So now is the time for a Spring Clean. Thank you.
