JUNE 2006 NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents 

Like most months this is another busy one with a number of important events and activities planned. Please check the important events section. 

Could parents also ensure that all books and school equipment including the Maths Homework Boxes are sent back into school.

A special thank you to the support of the P4 and  P7 parents in the preparation of their children for the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation.

A final newsletter shall be sent out at the end of June

  FOOTBALL

The school team followed up its win over Moneydarragh with hard fought wins over Grange PS and Atticall PS thus winning their section and qualifying for the Down playoffs. Last week they were beaten by the   eventual winners, a joint schools team of Barr/Glenn. Congratulations to all panel members and we wish them well in the St Columban’s tournament which takes place at the end of the month.

 

 Healthy Break times: A short reminder that milk and water are the only drinks allowed at break time. Please do not send in any fruit drinks or yoghurt drinks. Thank you.

SPORTS DAY

 

Weather permitting Sports Day takes place on Wednesday 7th June with KS1 sports in the morning followed by KS 2 in the afternoon .Each family should have received a detailed letter explaining the organisation of the day.

 INDUCTION DAY

 

Induction Day for new children will take place on Monday 26th June . Times and details shall be sent out later. 

 

 Newcastle Lions:  Congratulations to Gerard McDowell and Lauren McComb who won the “Stranger Danger” poster competition. These posters will be featured in a Calendar which will be published in the New Year

UNIFORMS The majority of uniforms have arrived and will be issued soon. If anyone has not yet ordered please complete an order form and leave it in the office as soon as possible.

SPORTS FIELD

We are looking forward to the erection of goal posts and ball stops in the near future on the school pitch. No more lost balls!

 

GRIDCLUB

This is an excellent  website which is ideal for primary school children. The school has subscribed to the site and this enables children to use the site at home.

Instructions are as follows.

 

Go to the website at www.gridclub.com  and log on to the Grid Club Learning Centre – Games and Activities. You will need to type in the Username and Password for access. These are both in lower case

Anti Bullying

P6/7 recently enjoyed a play and drama workshop on the subject of Bullying. We would like to thank Moneydarragh PS for their kind invitation.

P7 will be enjoying a workshop on Wed 14th which will look at many issues including self esteem, personal health etc. A detailed letter will be sent out shortly.

 

Sacraments

 

 Congratulations to the boys and girls of P4 and P7 who recently received the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation respectively. Many thanks to everyone for their help in the children’s preparation.

   P7 SHARE Trip: Although the weather was unkind P6 and 7 enjoyed their trip to SHARE. Many thanks to the staff members who accompanied the children on the trip. It was nice of Charles and Camilla dropping in to see us!
