2005 NEWSLETTER
A
special congratulations to the
children who made their First
Communion and to the P7 children who
received the Sacrament of
Confirmation The services were
beautiful and all of the children
played their roles very well on the
day including the choir. Thank you
to Fr Peter,Mr.Cunningham and Miss
Walsh and to everyone else
involved.
FOSA:
A big thank you to the Friends of
the School and to the parents who
provided sandwiches for the much
appreciated refreshments served
after First Communion and
Confirmation in the Ballymartin
Inn.
FOOTBALL:
Congratulations to the football
team who played very well in the
recent matches.They reached the
semi final of the St Louis
tournament beating Moneydarragh on
the way. Well done to all involved.
NETBALL:
The
girls under Miss Hanna’s tutelage
have performed very well reaching
the semi finals of the St Colman’s
and St Louis’ Tournaments. Well done
to all involved.
TRIPS:
P6
and P7 children enjoyed a wonderful
week at SHARE in Lisnaskea along
with Newcastle PS. Many thanks to
all the staff who gave up their time
to accompany the children on the
residential.
REPORTS:
Each
child's annual Record of
Achievement will be handed out in
the week beginning 20th June.
WATER:
Whilst there is drinking water in
the school children may bring
bottles of water (300ml-500ml size)
to school to sip if they wish. Make
sure that the children can identify
their bottle.
WELCOME:
A big welcome to Aidan and Daniel
who have recently started school. We
hope they enjoy their time at St
Mary’s.
SPORTS DAY:
Weather permitting Sports Day will
take place on Wednesday June 15th.
It will follow the same format as
last year with KS1 in the morning
and KS2 in the afternoon. A further
letter will be sent out shortly. It
is hoped to have sports day on the
school playing fields.
UNIFORM:
Many thanks to everyone for their
help in the ordering of the
uniform. The order has been sent
away and the items should be back
before the end of June. Items can
still be ordered but they may not be
here before September. Fleeces
although not on the order form can
also be ordered.
CYCLING PROFICIENCY:
This program will begin for P7 next
week. The children will need helmets
and bikes. The bikes may be left in
school during the week whilst they
are training.
FIRST AID:
The children are nearing the end of
their first aid training. They have
worked well during their training
and will soon be able to deal
competently with a range of first
aid scenarios. Congratulations to
Alanna and Colleen who recently
underwent training in the First Aid
at Work PASS Course.
DISSOLVING BOUNDARIES:
P6 and P7 enjoyed their recent trip
to Dublin to meet their partners
from Presentation Convent PS, Tralee.
The DB project has been going on all
year.The classes have been working
together on a number of projects and
have been in communication via e-
mail and video conference. Many
friendships have been developed over
the year and much has been gained in
ICT skills and awareness of each
others locations and cultures. It is
intended to continue and develop
the project next year.
BALLOON RACE:
The balloon race is scheduled to
take place on Wednesday 8th June. As
around a quarter of the children
have not returned their sponsorship
forms yet we are extending the
closing date until Monday 6th June.
Sponsorship forms are still
available if the originals has been
mislaid.
QUESTIONNAIRES:
A
number of questionnaires shall be
sent home and we would appreciate
your help in completing them. A
random sample of parents will be
asked to provide feedback regarding
the “Talk to Me maths boxes project”
and feedback is also required
regarding the “Walk to school”
initiative. There will also be a
general questionnaire dealing with
the school. Thank you.
WALK TO SCHOOL:
Thank you to the parents and
children who participated in this
initiative. Whilst the weather did
not lend itself the children who
participated enjoyed the experience.
Please feel free to continue this
during June.
