MAY 2004 NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents

We would like to congratulate the P3 children who made their First Confession recently. Many thanks to Miss Walsh , other school staff and parents for their help in the preparation and the service itself. Hopefully they enjoyed the day. Best wishes to those children making their First Communion and Confirmation this month.


LENT:
Many thanks for your help and encouragement with the various activities and events which occurred during the build up to Easter. A special thank you to all those parents and staff who donated Easter Eggs for the raffle. The children enjoyed the event and also raised much needed cash for Trocaire and other charities.£ 408 was raised.Thank you to P7 for selling the raffle tickets. Thank you for your generosity.

FIRST COMMUNION:
Celebration of the Sacrament for P4 takes place on Saturday 15h May at 11am . The children have been working hard and we wish them all the best. P4 parents are receiving a separate letter. Some of the older children have been asked to sing at the service. The children should arrive at 10:45 and can wear their own clothes.
We are also making a request for any available parents to help in the Ballymartin Inn in the preparation and serving of the refreshments afterwards.Obviously this is voluntary but if you could it would be appreciated. Come along after 11am if you are interested.

FOOTBALL:
Good luck to the football team who play in two important games shortly.

EMU Trips:

  • P6/7 had an enjoyable and wet trip to the outdoor pursuits centre in Newcastle.
  • P4/5 traveled to Castle Espie to study birds.

SHARE RESIDENTIAL:
The P6-P7 residential will take place from the 17th -20h May. As the teachers are on duty in Fermanagh you may not be able to contact them that week.
Hopefully the weather (and children! ) will be good.

Children not going to SHARE are to attend school as normal.

UNIFORM:
A letter will follow shortly with an order form to enable people to purchase their uniform for September
School Baseball hats are available at the moment £1.75

FIRST AID:
This term sees P6/7 undergoing Emergency First aid training. The school recently received equipment to the value of £1 500. We should all be in good hands when the training is over!

CYCLING:
P7’s who wish to participate in the cycling proficiency program should make sure that their bikes are in working order. The program will start shortly.

CONFIRMATION:
Confirmation takes place on the 25th May at Noon in St Joseph’s Ballymartin.In order to facilitate with the organization and management of this important ceremony the following arrangements will take place.

School will finish after early lunch at 11am for the younger children i.e. Reception P1-P6 Some of the older children shall be singing at the service. They will be able to go home in the minibus after the service. P7 will of course go direct to the church. Many thanks for your cooperation.

EMU TRIPS:

  • P1,2 and 3 Monday 10th May Reception not to attend school. Children will return by 2.45pm
  • P4/5 Wednesday 2nd June Ulster Museum

  • Tue 25th May Noon Confirmation in St Joseph’s
