Dear Parents
A big thank you
to everyone for their help and attendance
at the various functions, sacramental
meetings and events during the Christmas
Season. We would like to wish everyone
a peaceful and happy New Year.
DECEMBER
HIGHLIGHTS:
Many of the older children
participated in the Young Voices
concert at the The Odyssey along
with 3500 other children at the
start of December.
Most of t he children along with
a number of parents and helpers
enjoyed a visit to the Pantomime
“ Aladdin” at Belfast’s Waterfront.
An enjoyable afternoon was had by
all.
On Wednesday 11th December the younger
children put on an excellent performance
of the Nativity to a large crowd
of relatives, friends and the Marine
Friendship Group. The older children
also performed a number of songs
from the Young Voices Concert
Many thanks to the Friends of the
School for the refreshments after
the show and also for paying for
the transport to the Pantomime Thanks
also to everyone who donated prizes
for the raffles.
A big thank you to Miss Walsh, Mrs.
McEvoy and all staff for their help
and enthusiasm in the preparation
and organization of the Christmas
productions.
SPECIAL VISITOR:
A big thank you to Santa and Mrs.
Rudolph who arrived with gifts for
the children before Christmas. Thanks
also to the Friends of the School
who also presented gifts to the
children.
Dr BARNARDO‘s:
The school raised a total figure
of £300 for this charity.
HOUSE POINTS:
Congratulations to the
children of Mourne house. They won
the Housepoints award for the autumn
term for their work and effort.
They won a selection box for their
efforts.
ENROLMENT
FOR NEXT YEAR:
If you wish your child
to begin school next year application
forms should be completed and returned
by the 31st January. Application
forms and information can be obtained
at the office. Could you also pass
this information on to any other
interested parents in the area.

SCHOOL
OPEN NIGHTS:
Secondary school Open Nights
shall take place this month. Details
will be sent home to the P7 families
Information packs regarding Transfer
to Secondary School shall be sent
out shortly to P7 parents.
BOOK FAIR:
The annual Book Fair returns
to the school at the start of February.
Information and opening times shall
be sent out shortly.
REMINDERS:
Healthy Eating will begin
this week starting on Tuesday.
Children should wear school uniform
at all times. Tracksuits are only
needed if the children are doing
PE outside e.g. Friday’s.
Please encourage the children to
bring their PE kit to school on
PE days. PE is an important part
of the curriculum as are the health
related issues of changing into
the correct clothes and hygiene.
WI COMPETITION:
P6/ 7 are invited to write a poem
on the subject of “ My Mourne’s”
for the annual literary competition.
More information to follow.
SWIMMING:
Continues on a Thursday for P4/5
until the 29th January. P6/7 will
commence their program the following
week.
EMU:
Our Education for Mutual Understanding
Program moves into full swing this
term.

Thursday 29th Jan P1 Visit to W5
at The Odyssey
SACRAMENTS:
Sunday 18th January is Enrolment
Sunday for P3 pupils who are making
the Sacrament of Reconciliation
this year . The Enrolment will take
place at the Saturday and Sunday
masses in the Parish. A further
letter will be issued this week.
PARENT/TEACHER
MEETING :
These will take place on
Tuesday 10th February from 1.30pm
onwards for Reception-P6. Children
will leave after lunch. An appointments
board will be put out at the start
of February.
Appointments for P7 will take place
on Wednesday 11th February .
SHARE RESIDENTIAL
:
Letters will be sent out
shortly regarding this years residential
for P6/7 in Fermanagh (17th-21st
May)
