Dear Parents

We would like to congratulate the P3 children who made their First Confession recently. Many thanks to Miss Walsh , other school staff and parents for their help in the preparation and the service itself. Hopefully they enjoyed the day. Best wishes to the children making their First Communion shortly

LENT:
Many thanks for your help and encouragement with the various activities and events which occurred during the build up to Easter. A special thank you to all those parents and staff who donated Easter Eggs for the raffle. The children enjoyed the event and also raised much needed cash for Trocaire. We do not have a final figure yet but around £ 200 was raised by the raffle alone. Thank you to P7 for selling the tickets. Thank you for your generosity. We also had a visit from Sister Eileen, a Diocesan RE Adviser. She visited each of the classes and attended our Easter Service. She enjoyed her visit.

FIRST COMMUNION:
Celebration of the Sacrament for P4 takes place on Saturday 10th May at 11am . The children have been working hard and we wish them all the best for next week. P4 parents are receiving a separate letter. Some of the older children have been asked to sing at the service. The children should arrive at 10:45 and can wear their own clothes. We are also making a request for any available parents to help in the Ballymartin Inn in the preparation and serving of the refreshments afterwards.Obviously this is voluntary but if you could it would be appreciated. Come along after 11am if you are interested.

FOOTBALL:
Congratulations to the football team who played two games recently.Whilst we did not win the main games everyone put in good performances.Well done

SUMMER BAR B QUE :
The annual Bar B Que takes place on Friday 6th June in the Halfway House. It is hoped that there will be a good turnout and an enjoyable night is anticipated. From 9.30pm onwards. Admission £6.50 at the door.

HOUSE AWARD:
Congratulations to the children who belong to Donard House. They won the house award for their good work and effort during the spring term. Best of luck to everyone during the summer term.

UNIFORM:
Thank you to everyone who returned their short questionnaire regarding the school uniform.
The results were as follows
42 requested a change in uniform to sweatshirt and polo shirt whilst 13 preferred the jumper, shirt and tie.
As there is a large majority the uniform shall change next year. Whilst it is appreciated that some parents prefer the shirt and tie there is a substantial number who prefer a change. We would appreciate everyone's help and cooperation in this new venture.
A letter will follow shortly with an order form to enable people to purchase their uniform for September or indeed for polo shirts for the summer term. School Baseball hats are available at the moment £1.75

BALLOON RACE:
We intend having a rerun of the successful balloon race of two years ago . We hope to have the sponsor forms out next week and the race will take place in early June.Money raised will go to school funds .

POND:
A new pond has been developed within the school grounds. Its presence will aid our environmental studies. Whilst the pond is not deep a fence is being put up around it. Please emphasise with the children that they can only approach it when in the supervision of adults.
Thank you.
