Dear Parents

A special congratulations to the children who made their First Communion. The service was beautiful and all of the children played their roles very well on the day. Thank you to Mr. Cunningham and everyone who was involved in making First Communion a great success.

BAR-B-QUE: There is a change of venue for the Bar B Que.The Halfway House renovations are not yet completed so we are thankful to Glasdrumman AOH for the use of their facilities.The Bar B Que takes place on Friday 6th June at 9pm. Admission is £6.50 and includes a steak and disco. The minibus will be available for lifts from the village down to the AOH. All proceeds are for the Friends of the School minibus found . A good turn out would be appreciated.

A big thank you to the Friends of the School for the much appreciated refreshments served after First Communion in the Ballymartin Inn.

NETBALL: Congratulations to the netball team who played very well in the recent St Louis tournament. The girls lost out in a tense shoot out with Aticall. Many thanks to the parents who looked after the girls.

TRIPS: Some P6 and P7 children enjoyed a wonderful week at SHARE in Lisnaskea along with Newcastle PS. Many thanks to all the staff and volunteers who gave up their time to accompany the children on the residential.

Recently P1,2 & 3 enjoyed interesting trips to W5 and Ark Open Farm

NEW PUPILS: A special welcome to Jordan Doran who has recently joined the school. We hope he enjoys his time here.

REPORTS: Each childs annual Record of Achievement will be handed out in the week beginning 23rd June.

SPORTS DAY: Weather permitting Sports Day will take place on Wednesday June 18th. It will follow the same format as last year with KS1 in the morning and KS2 in the afternoon. A further letter will be sent out shortly.

BALLOON RACE: Whilst The children should have received sponsor forms a substantial number have not been returned. We need those forms back asap in order to purchase the correct number of balloons / gas etc. Please return to school by Wednesday at the latest.

The Balloon race will take place on Wednesday 11th June around 1pm. Parents are welcome to come to the school and share in the event . You could even bring a picnic. Mairin will also be selling carry out snacks from the kitchen that day. Proceeds will be used to help pay in the redecoration of the school.

POND: The pond which has just been developed has been vandalised. Someone has ripped the liner using a sharp object. A lot of time and money has been used in developing this resource. Hopefully it can be fixed so that the children can use it next year. Any help in keeping an eye on the pond or any of the schools outside resources would be appreciated.

UNIFORM: Many thanks to everyone for their help in the ordering of the uniform. The order has been sent away and the items should be back before the end of June. Items can still be ordered but they may not be here before September.

Baseball hats are still available.

DRUG AWARENESS: P7 enjoyed an interesting and informative workshop on th above topic.

CYCLING PROFICIENCY: This program continues for P7's

GOODBYE AND HELLO: Mrs. McEvoy returns to school on Monday 2nd June after her maternity leave.She now has 14 little bodies to worry about instead of one! She is very welcome back. With Mrs. McEvoy's return we say goodbye to Miss Rooney. We thank her for her work and efforts and wish her well for the future. We have also said goodbye to Mrs. Grant who has left her post in the kitchen. We wish her all the best as well.

MINIBUS RUN: Volunteers are needed to help in the driving of the minibus in the mornings. Some of the volunteers are finishing at the end of this schoolyear. New volunteers are required in order to allow the scheme to work. Parents whose children use this service are asked to give serious consideration to this request. Please contact the school if you can help.

PLANTS: If anyone has any spare indoor plants the school would appreciate them. Thank you.

Mon 24th Induction meeting for P1/Rec parents(2.15pm)
Tue 25th P7 Leavers Trip
Thu 27th Prize morning beginning at 10am
Fri 27th End of Term -Half day

There will an additional letter at the end of the month outlining next terms dates. Have an enjoyable month.
