2003 NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents
Many thanks to everyone who sent in
parcels for Operation Christmas Child.Your kindness has
insured that 80 other children will celebrate Christmas
that much better.
BARNARDO‘S:
A cheque of £300 was recently presented
to a representative of the Barnardo’s. Your generosity
is much appreciated.
PANTOMIME:
The pantomime takes place on Tuesday 16th December.
The children will come to school as normal. They will
leave for Belfast after an early lunch. A further letter
shall be sent out detailing arrangements. The buses should
be back in Glasdrumman/Annalong around 6.30pm.
YOUNG VOICES CONCERT:
The older children have been working very hard
since September learning songs for this concert in The
Odyssey.
Letters have already been sent out and no child will be
allowed to travel unless a permission slip has been returned.
The bus will leave school at 1pm on Wednesday 3rd December
and return home around 10:45pm. Children must have a white
t-shirt and black trousers/leggings. They will also need
food for the evening. The children travelling do not need
to wera uniform on that day.
LATE OPENING:
Due to the late return of the children the school will
not open until 11am on Thursday morning.
GUITAR:
The last class before Christmas takes place on the 9th
December. There is no class this week.
CHRISTMAS DINNER:
This takes place on Thursday 12th December.Mairin needs
to know numbers in advance. Please send money and details
asap. The meal takes place on .
CONFESSIONS & MASS:
Confessions will take place during the week beginning
Monday 16th December for P4-P7.The school will participate
in the Mass on Tuesday 17th December at 9am. Everyone
is welcome.
PARTY:
Christmas parties will take place on the 17th December.
CONFIRMATION:
A reminder that parents of P7 children who are to be confirmed
this year should attend either of the preparation meetings
this week.( Tuesday 2nd Dec in St Joseph’s Church 7.30
or Wed 3rd Dec in St Mary’s). There will also be a Commitment
Sevice for all P7’s at any of the weekend masses in the
Parish next weekend.
ADVENT SERVICE:
There will be an Advent Service on Tuesday 9th December.
Confessions will alsotake place.
CHRISTMAS SHOW:
It is the turn of the younger children to present the
Christmas Performance this year. The event takes place
on Wednesday 10th December at 1.30pm. As usual we extend
an invite to all parents , relations and friends to attend
the performance. Reception children can remain in school
that day until the end of the performance.
GOVERNORS:
The annual meeting takes place on Tuesday 9th December
at 7.30pm. It is followed by a Governors meeting.
QUIZ NIGHT and RAFFLE:
Many thanks to the FOSA for organising a very successful
raffle and Quiz night. A very enjoyable night was had
by all
and over £1300 was raised. Many thanks for your
support.
SWIMMING:
The final session for the year takes place on Thursday
11th December.
SCHOOL CLOSURE:
There is a Training Day (ICT) on Monday 8th December.
There will be a half day on Friday 19th December. Children
can leave at midday. There will be dinners.
School reopens on Wednesday 7th January 2004.
Although it seems early to be saying
this the staff would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas
and a Peaceful New Year.
